 We enjoyed exploring and photographing Venice. Venice is the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region. Venice was once a world power. Venice is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. Venice has no roads, just canals. The Grand Canal is lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. Venice is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. Venice has no roads! Canals are lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica. During our visit, the city flooded! Workers erected temporary walkways for tourists.
