  People like to say that Cumberland Island is “where nature and history meet.” Cumberland Island is Georgia's largest and southernmost barrier island. It is filled with pristine maritime forests, undeveloped beaches, marshes, unique birds and beautiful free-roaming horses. Natives, missionaries, Revolutionary War heroes, British military personnel, enslaved African Americans and some of the wealthiest Americans in U.S. history all walked this island. We visit every time we are in the area. We love it!

Bari's old city holds a 12th-century Romanesque cathedral, a Norman castle, and the Basilica of San Nicola which houses the relics of their patron saint. The people of Bari literally invaded Turkey to steal the bodily remains of Saint Nicholas. Bari has been inhabited since 1500 B.C.by Greeks, Romans, Saracens, Normand and Italians.   KRAMPUS - The history, facts and myths of the punisher of the naughty. Just as Santa Claus comes at Christmas, his polar opposite Krampus comes on Krampusnacht. In some cultures, St. Nicholas and Krampus work as a team. St. Nicholas rewards good children, while Krampus punishes naughty ones.   Steven and Tom Visit Rouen France Rouen is a port city on the river Seine. We visited the cobblestoned pedestrian center with medieval half-timbered houses. Joan of Arc was burned to death here for leading the French against the English. Victor Hugo famously described Rouen as the city of a hundred spires. The Gros Horloge clock is located on an arch between two buildings. Notre Dame of Rouen Cathedral was begun in the 1100s. Its spire reaches 495 feet. Luray Caverns is open every day of the year. All formations in the caverns are calcite, a crystalline form of limestone.The National Park Service and the Department of Interior designated it a Registered Natural Landmark.   Steven and Tom Visit Fort Christmas. Fort Christmas is located in Christmas, Florida. The original fort was begun in 1837 after white settlers tried to take back land Native Americans had been granted in a treaty. The fort houses an exhibit about the Seminole Indian War. The twenty-five acre park is has no admission charge. The park also has restored historical homes from 1870-1930, historical farm equipment, a school. There are pavilions, a playground and a tennis court too.

The Duke Kahanamoku Statue honors the father of modern surfing. Honolulu means sheltered harbor or calm port in Hawaiian. Waikiki is the tourist district of Honolulu.
