People like to say that Cumberland Island is “where nature and history meet.”
Cumberland Island is Georgia's largest and southernmost barrier island. It is filled with pristine maritime forests, undeveloped beaches, marshes, unique birds and beautiful free-roaming horses. Natives, missionaries, Revolutionary War heroes, British military personnel, enslaved African Americans and some of the wealthiest Americans in U.S. history all walked this island. We visit every time we are in the area. We love it!Steven Skelley is a journalist, photographer, author, singer, songwriter - all in spite of being legally disabled. Instead of focusing on his disability, he chooses to focus on the positive and to experience and share the beauty of the world through his writing, music and photography.
